LÆCE didn’t begin with a business plan.
It began as a small project at my desk in Munich.
In 2020, I was 19 and had just started university during Covid. I felt underwhelmed — almost restless. Growing up in an entrepreneurial household and always loving fashion, I knew I wanted to build something of my own. Something creative. Something that would make me feel independent.
There was no business plan. No funding. No production team. And honestly, no real idea how to run a business. I had curiosity, an idea, some fabric and the decision to start anyway.
So I taught myself how to sew.
In February 2021, I officially registered LACE Belts.
The first pieces were made in my room. I cut fabrics, tested patterns, reworked designs that didn’t turn out right, and learned everything through trial and error. Every single belt was produced by me. What started as experimenting slowly turned into late nights at the sewing machine, packing orders on the floor, and replying to customer messages between lectures and internships.
While trying to figure out my own future, I was quietly building something at the same time. There were no shortcuts. No big budgets. Just persistence, mistakes, learning and starting again.
By the end of the first year, taking orders through Instagram became chaotic. The demand had grown beyond what DMs could handle, so I launched my first online shop. In 2022, the first pop-ups in Munich followed as more people and local businesses began to see the vision.
Looking back, it was never just about belts.
It was about proving to myself that I could create something from nothing. That I could build a brand with my own hands.
And that’s how LÆCE began.
